Joe Young was born in 1951 in Texarkana, Texas. A native of East Texas, he was raised and received his public education in Texarkana, Texas. He has been married to Roberta Young since 1986 and they reside in Longview. His interests include outdoor activities such as golf,
hunting and fishing. His guiding principle is that every person is equal under the law. And he believes that the courts should be open to all to solve disputes in a just and fair manner.
Having received his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1974, Joe then went on to receive his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from The South Texas College of Law in May 1979. He was licensed to practice law in November 1979, as well as admitted to practice in all Texas State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the 5th and 11th Circuits. His practice began in Houston in 1979 until 1986 when he moved to Longview, where he has practiced ever since. He was board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in personal injury trial law in 1985 and later re-certified in 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005. Since entering the practice of law in 1979, Joe has handled a broad range of civil disputes. Although he primarily practices with an emphasis on personal injury cases, he also represents many clients in contract disputes, civil rights violations, employment law, consumer disputes, probate matters, and real estate claims.
Joe has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts across East Texas. His breadth of experience and working knowledge of many industries and the concerns of working East Texans, give him the insight to understand your problems and work with you toward a timely and fair solution.
In addition to his personal associations, Joe is a member of the American Association for Justice, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, East Texas Trial Lawyers Association (former President), Northeast Texas Bar Association (former President), Gregg County Bar Association, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
